Annie

Today my youngest sister helped to choose a child to pray for. She really wants Annie to be able to have a family. Could you help spread the word that Annie is waiting for a family? My sister knows what it is like to be waiting for a family and she is glad that she is adopted. She wants other kids who are still waiting to get adopted as well!

annie-1-225x300Annie was born in 2010 with the complete absence of her arm. She also has mixed specific developmental disorder, astigmatism,¬† hypermetropia (farsightedness), and hypertrophy of tonsils listed to her name. She is living in Eastern Europe and is available to be adopted by large families and older parents. So far she has just over $180 gifted to her on Reece’s Rainbow, hopefully it will be a help for the family that will come forward to call her their own. http://reecesrainbow.org/118367/annie-2

Would you please pray with me and my sister that she will have a family soon?

Dear Lord,

Thank you for Annie. Thank you for her smile, I pray that she will have reason to keep on smiling. Please show her Your love and grace. Please bring forward a family for her. May they not be scared by the list of medical conditions but be strengthened by You and remember that she is a little girl not a medical condition.

Thank you that my sister has a heart for other kids who are waiting for families. She remembers how it used to be and loves having a family. I pray that Annie will get to experience this feeling of love and support.

For You and Your kingdom, I pray,

Amen.

Hailey and Hugh

Yesterday was my youngest sister’s birthday and today is my youngest brother’s birthday. We have been having a lot of fun and our sister has come back for a visit so we are all together. Thinking about birthdays with my younger siblings always makes me happy but a little bit sad. I know they missed out on birthdays with family before they were adopted and I am so glad that they can now celebrate with people who love them.

http://reecesrainbow.org/118285/hailey-hugh

Hailey and Hugh are siblings who are waiting to be adopted. I chose them today because they are the same age distance apart as the birthday girl and boy in my family. Also like my littlest sister, Hailey can remember her birth family. It is hard when they can remember but it also brings about a greater joy when they choose to love both families.

Hailey is nine and while she struggles with developmental delays and vision issues she is described in very positive terms. Hailey is said to be easily distracted but is making improvements in her comprehension. Despite her small size, Hailey loves to help others and wants to be adopted with her brother.

Unfortunately Hugh is unable to live with his sister at the moment because of age and gender but they miss each other very much. He is said to be a very curious little boy who is reported to be cooperative and is able to follow rules despite the tendency to get distracted.

For families that qualify there is a $4,000 grant to help pay for the legal fees. Please pray with me that Hailey and Hugh will be adopted soon and be able to be together again.

Dear Lord,

Thank You for Hailey and Hugh. Thank You that You love them and have a plan for them. Please bring a family forward to adopt them, may they get to grow up together, to laugh and to love together.

Please bring a family forward to help them be all that they can be. To support Hailey and help her to grow into a beautiful young woman both inside and out; and to teach Hugh what it means to be a man who cares for others, who loves others, and who stands up for others. Thank you so much for this family, give them strength and patience when things get tough and the ability to celebrate the little victories.

May You be glorified in all things! Thank You for what You have done, are doing, and will do. May You be praised!

In Your holy name I pray,

Amen

Single Dads

Wow, so I haven’t written in a LONG time. I’m sorry about that. I could make excuses about how I’ve been studying for exams or how my sister’s wedding is in a month but that’s not going to change that I haven’t done anything.

Today I was looking on Reece’s Rainbow and clicked on the ‘available to Single Dads’ tag ( http://reecesrainbow.org/category/available-to-single-dads ). One of my good friends is a single dad and he is amazing, he loves his daughter dearly and she adores him. He has talked about how he has thought about adopting but is in school at the moment so he understands that right now may not be the best time.

Thinking of my friend reminded me of how very few countries allow for international adoption by single dads. I know there are wonderful men out there who would open their arms and welcome a child as a son or daughter. So I thought that today I would showcase some of the awesome kids who are able to be adopted by single dads.

Kids like:

Ryan who was born in 2012 and has a repaired cleft clip and palate, an amputated right ear due to infection, and a loss of vision in his right eye.

Ryan-1-177x300

Lianne who was born in 2014 and has down syndrome.

Lianne-224x300

Ricardo who is 10 years old and has a Cochlear implant and had a colostomy.

RICARDO_-216x300

And Charity, Levi, and Micah who are a sibling group waiting for a family. They are 12, 9, and 6 respectively. Charity is a few years behind in school because she didn’t have the chance to go to school before. Levi has untreated strabismus and has some learning disabilities. Micah has some mild speech difficulties but is doing much better.

Dear Lord,

Thank you for all the single dads who love their children and do their best to care for them and help them to grow up to be the best that they can be. I pray for the dads who want to adopt and become a father for a child who does not have a family. I pray that they won’t be discouraged but will be encouraged and will walk forward in this path You have called them on.

Lord, I pray that the children who wait will have hope that they will be loved and that they are loved. Please help them to know that they are loved by You.

Lord, You have adopted us all. You are our Father. I pray that as we begin to understand what You have done for us that it will inspire us to also love those who are lost. That we too will open our arms and welcome children into our families as You have welcomed us into Your family.

In Your name I pray,

Amen.

Tracy and Bart

Tracy and Bart are two teens who are waiting for a family. They need to be adopted together!!! Tracy is the older of the two, she was born in 2002 and is medically healthy. Tracy is described as a good student and she loves to be creative. She enjoys art, sewing, singing and dance.

Bart is only one year younger than his sister, he was born in 2003. The only medical issue that was listed on Reece’s Rainbow is a cleft lip. He is said to like playing games and enjoys soccer. The biggest challenge for them to get adopted is their age. Unfortunately they are very close to aging out of the system Would you pray with me that they will have a family to call their own?

Dear Lord,

Thank you for Tracy and Bart. I thank you that You care for them. I pray that You will bring a family forward to adopt them. Their time is running out and I know that You do things in Your timing. I pray that they will experience the love of a family and will come to know You.

Thank you for their friends and for those that care for them. I pray that they will be examples of Your power, love, and grace. May You be known in their lives.

I pray for the family that You will call to be their parents. Please prepare their hearts and minds. Please grant them the patience and the strength to stand beside Tracy and Bart as they go through the hard transition and learn what it means to be in a family.

Thank you that You are the Father to the fatherless and that You stand for the oppressed and the weak. May we all endeavor to be like You. To love and to care and to be the voice of the voiceless.

For Your glory and Your kingdom, I pray.

Amen

Lucia

This beautiful little girl is Lucia, she was born in 2010 and was listed in 2015. Reece’s Rainbow states her medical conditions as ‘localization-related (focal)(partial) symptomatic epilepsy and epileptic syndromes with simple partial seizures, unspecified mental delays, myopia¬†after stroke syndrome, and lack of coordination of muscle movements.’ She is described as being friendly and sweet. Would you pray with me for a family to adopt her?

http://reecesrainbow.org/93566/lucia

Dear Lord,

Thank you for Lucia. I pray that You will bring forward a family for her. I hope that she will not have too much longer to wait. Please be with her new family as help her through tough medical times and rejoice with her in the joyful times.

I pray that she will be a light in the lives of the people she is around. I pray that You will shine through her.

Lord, You have brought Your children into a family relationship with each other. Please help us, as Your children, to show the love of a family to others. May we not be selfish in our love but graciously give as You give Your love to us.

For Your glory and Your kingdom, I pray,

Amen.

Adrianna & Adrian

Sorry about not writing last week. It has been pretty hectic at my house. My Nana had a stroke and passed away this last week and it has been hard on everyone, especially as she lived on the other side of the planet and there is no way for our family to be able to travel to go to her funeral or see the rest of our family who also lives there.

But that’s enough about that – let’s talk about life. Life is something that is beautiful and needs to be cherished. The two beautiful siblings that I am going to pray about today are so deserving of life – just as every child is. A life of hope, family, and love.

adrianna-225x300Adrianna, an adorable little girl who was born in 2012. She has mild autism and it is said that she talks and understands what others are saying. She is also said to communicate well. Along with her brother Adrian (born 2013) who also has autism she will be available for adoption in the fall.

Will you pray with me that they will not have to wait long for a family to call their own. A family that will give them a chance of life.

Dear Lord,

Thank you for Adrian and his sister. I pray that You will be with them as they await adoption. Please prepare their hearts for a family. It is hard and scary to have to learn what it means to be in a family. I pray that You will bless them and the family that You will call forward with peace and strength when going through the tough transition.

I pray that they will experience this transition and will receive the hope that a family brings. I pray that they will feel safe in their family and will have the structure and understanding that they need to be amazing.

Thank You for their lives and for the lives of the people who care for them. Please bless them and show Your great love to them. May they know Your name and grace.

For You and for Your kingdom I pray,

Amen.

Remember to Celebrate!!!

Yay! It is always a good time to celebrate when a child comes home. So far this year twelve children who were listen on Reece’s Rainbow have been welcomed into families and are now home with them. They are now sons and daughters!!!

It can be easy to get lost in the overwhelming numbers of children still waiting for families but seeing those that have come home gives cause to celebrate and reminds all of us advocating and praying that there is hope. Every child counts and every child that comes home has a new life before them.

Anna Mae, Amos, Daisy, Lee, Lanikai, Audrey, Violet, Domenic, Naomi, Ryan, Dex, and Linny all have new names, new identities, and a new hope for the future. They have a new country to call home along with their birth countries of China, Ukraine, and Vietnam. Another country to love, another place that will shape them into who they will be in the future.

This doesn’t mean that it’s going to be easy. Oh no! The hard work has just begun. The kids and the families have to learn what their new “normal” is. There will be tears, there will be fits, there will be bruises, and there will be times in which everyone will not know if they can go on.

But! That’s not the whole story. There will also be, hugs, kisses, laughs, and some amazing memories that are made. After a child is adopted prayer is so vitally important. Will you pray with me?

Dear Lord,

Thank you for every single one of these children who have come home in the last month. I pray that many more children will be welcomed into families this year. Please make this year an amazing year where you show Your mighty hand in families’ lives. Bringing families together from across the globe.

As the new families learn new things about each other everyday and transverse the rocky road of being an adopted family I pray that You will infuse joy into their homes. Please give them patience for when times are tough. Please help them to see the small moments of calm and peace among the storm. Help them to see the growth that happens everyday and enjoy the small moments.

I pray that You will use these families to influence others and help them see what adoption is. And that by watching others will also see how You have acted in our lives. How You have adopted us. How You chose us and loved us.

Thank you for these families and thank you for my family. For my biological siblings and my adopted siblings and my siblings made through the sacrifice of Christ.

For Your glory and Your kingdom!

Amen.
